Measurement of Environmental Noise is an increasingly important job for planning and regulation of noise in a variety of areas. From the ever-increasing number of outdoor music festivals to planned increases in vehicle and aircraft movements, the ability to correctly measure and monitor noise is a key requirement.

The Institute of Acoustics| Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement (CCENM) is |designed to provide the required skillset in noise measurement for a variety of people who may not need more formal qualifications in acoustics. These may include Environmental Health Officers, Health and Safety officers, Sound Engineers, Event Managers, Urban Planners, Environmental Consultants and Construction companies amongst others.

"This is a five-day course that seeks to provide delegates with a basic knowledge of the methodology of environmental noise measurement, including the use and accuracy requirements of sound level meters and analysers and to enable them be aware of the significance of measurement data against the framework of standards and legislation for environmental noise.” (www.ioa.org.uk|)

Attendance

Courses generally run twice yearly, in October and May.

Fees

The cost of the course at Solent Acoustics is currently £1,100 for tuition, plus an exam fee payable to the Institute of Acoustics of £190.
