Student quote

Emilie Kishtoo, Graduate

“I came from France to study at Southampton Solent University. I chose Cruise Industry Management as I had studied tourism in general and worked in different places in France.

“Studying here has enabled me to learn much more than if I had done a tourism degree in France. I have had the opportunity to understand how university life is organised in England through my experiences of seminars, the lectures, the library, the IT rooms, and so on.

“The course gave me the opportunity to learn diverse aspects of the cruise industry, such as the management and strategies and how to be more competitive. It also covered the globalisation of the cruise industry and its impact on the economy and the environment of different countries. All these gave me a clear insight into the various cruise markets and global cruise development.

“The primary and secondary research I did for the dissertation gave me the chance to get feedback from experts and cruisers who have cruised several times for their holidays. This research enabled me to expand my knowledge as I was passionate about the subject. I have now found a great job back in France working for a major cruise company.
“Thanks to my teachers and the University, I developed my skills in cruise management and tourism, gained more confidence, socialised and met fantastic people from different countries with whom I still have a strong relationship.”
