The course
• creates skilled professionals by approaching the subject from an
advanced technical, environmental and design perspective
• increases your employability by encouraging critical thinking and developing your knowledge, analytical techniques and advanced evaluation skills
• contributes to lifelong learning and career development
You have the opportunity to develop a high level of technical skills which are valuable in an increasingly competitive market, study new concepts and engage in debate on the controversial aspects of the industry alongside fellow professionals.
You study core modules in technical and environmental design, and conservation and design. You also study research methods and complete a dissertation. There is a strong emphasis on sustainable design throughout the course.
The rest of the course is flexible and based around your choice of option modules, which include advanced digital media and international practice.
A key feature of the course is the opportunity to go on an international field trip as part of the interdisciplinary practice module, which you take alongside students in associated professions. In recent years this has involved travel to Hong Kong and Shanghai.
You can use the course to move into technical architecture from areas such as construction, building, or related engineering and design disciplines.
