Course Description:
This course is suitable for those seeking a career as an enterprise, solutions, applications or data architect and also for others wishing to better understand these concepts. It provides participants with a consistent and comprehensive platform of knowledge about architecture terms and concepts and explains the ISEB reference model with illustrative exercises.
This is an intensive course. The Examination for the ISEB Intermediate certificate in Enterprise and Solution Architecture tests knowledge and awareness of the items in sections 1 to 9 of the syllabus and reference model (please see link below). Students with little experience of architecture may find it helpful to read the reference model (on ISEB web site) before the course.
While explaining the ISEB reference model, the course includes as much interaction as the timetable allows. During the 9 core presentations sessions, the tutor sets about 15 short Group discussion and exercise tasks. At the end of each session the delegates will undertake sets four or five mock exam questions The answers are then reviewed in discussion with the class. At the end of the course, the tutor sets a 40 question mock exam, and again reviews the answers with the whole class.
Please note: This course does not contain the ISEB certificate in Enterprise and Solution Architecture exam. Delegates wishing to sit the exam should apply directly to the ISEB.
On completion delegates will learn how to:
- Have formed a coherent picture of architects' roles in practice.
- Understand enterprise and solution architecture frameworks
- Understand the ways architects build architecture descriptions.
- Know ways to model the principal deliverables of architecture frameworks like TOGAF & Zachman.
- Take away useful distillations of architecture practices and deliverables.
We recommend that, a few days before the course, you download the Reference model for ISEB certificates in Enterprise and Solution Architecture and spend up to an hour looking through it. (You need not bring a paper copy to the course, since same reference model will be contained in the course manual)
