Course Details This new part time programme is a level 2
qualification for production operators or technicians working in
the chemical industry, or those aspiring to such a career. This
course replaces the 0603 qualification, formerly known as the 0603
in Process Technology Level 2. The course comprises of 2 years part
time study at Redcar & Cleveland College. The course aims to
develop subject knowledge and practical applications of the science
behind chemical manufacturing processes and the factors which

Course Details This new part time programme is a level 2
qualification for production operators or technicians working in
the chemical industry, or those aspiring to such a career. This
course replaces the 0603 qualification, formerly known as the 0603
in Process Technology Level 2. The course comprises of 2 years part
time study at Redcar & Cleveland College. The course aims to
develop subject knowledge and practical applications of the science
behind chemical manufacturing processes and the factors which
affect them. Candidates will also learn some of the strategies and
legislation requirements around keeping safe at work. The course
consists of 8 units in total, with 4 modules being studied in the
first and 4 in the second year. A total of 60 unit credits in all
are required to achieve the award. The modules are delivered
through a combination of lectures, practical sessions, workshops,
case studies and small group tutorials. Course units will be in the
following areas: Health & Safety. Process Science.
Calculations. Process Chemistry. Process Plant & Plant
Services in Process Industries. Processing Fluids in Processing
Industries. Fundamentals of Communications and IT in Process
Industries. Principles of Lab Analysis or Processing Solids. Entry
Requirements No formal qualifications are required for the course,
but please contact your local college for specific advice.
Progression after Programme Upon successful completion of the
course, students may progression to the level 3 Diploma in Process
Technology (Chemical Processes) course. Upon completion of this and
appropriate bridging units, candidates may then progress onto a HNC
in Chemical Engineering. Learning Outcome Successful completion of
the course may enable career progression within a number of
disciplines associated with working in the local Chemical Industry.
