Plastering Diploma Level 3 Course Details The course consists of
the mandatory units listed below, a college based synoptic
practical assignment, and an externally set subject knowledge test.
The course consists of the following units of competence: Know and
carry out safe working practices in construction. Knowledge of
information, quantities and communicating with others. Knowledge
of building methods and construction technology. Know how to fix
dry lining and plasterboard products to interiors. Know how to
produce plaster components. Know how to position and secure
fibrous plaster components. Know how to apply plaster materials to
produce complex internal surfaces. Know how to apply plaster
materials to produce complex external surfaces. Know how to form
screeds and granolithic finishes. Know how to prepare and run
in-situ moulds. Each of the above practical units has the necessary
subject knowledge unit attached to it. Entry Requirements Four
GCSEs at grade C or above, one of which must be English, or
Plastering Diploma Level 2 or Intermediate Craft Award. Direct
entry would require a Level 2 Diploma, however some recent
experience working on a construction site would be an advantage.
For full details it would be necessary to discuss with the tutor
responsible. Assessment Units of training and practical skills
evidence will be simulated within the college. There is an end
test. Learning Outcome The Level 3 Diploma is designed to develop
skills and knowledge of people, enabling them to work in the
industry in their chosen craft. It has been specifically developed
for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions.
Successful students might expect to progress on to the BTEC
Technician awards.
