At the end of the course successful candidates will be able to: 1 Use competently and effectively a range of counselling skills. 2 Accept and subscribe to the current B.A.C.P Ethical framework for Good Practice in Counselling. 3 Respect other people’s views, attitudes and placements. 4 Demonstrate a commitment to anti-oppressive practice and non-discriminatory use of counselling skills. 5 Show an understanding of one model of counselling and awareness of two other models. 6 Reflect constructively on themselves, life experiences, interactions with others and evidence personal and professional growth. A Course for The course is designed for people who wish to involve themselves in counselling activities such as professionals employed in education, welfare or social services wishing to develop a counselling role. It may also be appropriate for those working in a voluntary capacity with self-help groups or other agencies and for those who wish to develop higher level counselling skills. This course is NOT the professional qualification to practice as a counsellor but provides a progression route to professional counsellor training. The study skills elements of the course prepare students for the academic requirements of studying at level 3 and develop skills for higher education study. Entry Requirements You would normally possess a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Concepts and/or have considerable experience in a voluntary organisation or similar environment, working on a one to one basis with clients. Examples of relevant skills experience may be working in a voluntary capacity for Samaritans, CRUSE or similar organisations.
