We aim to make the course as practical as possible; often getting
very cold and very wet in the process!
An open mind, willingness to try anything and a sense of adventure
are essential. The course includes a wide range of outdoor
adventurous activities including rock climbing, kayaking,
coasteering and open canoeing, amongst others. Practical activities
encompass environmental knowledge and risk awareness making full
use of our local, national and international rivers, crags and
mountains. There is a strong emphasis placed on both hard and soft
skills in the outdoors and the course is designed to reflect this.
Teaching, learning and assessments are varied and based on
practical outdoor situations.
The Programme Content
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above with at least a grade D in English. Practical experience in at least one relevant outdoor activity.
Costs
Students will be expected to contribute towards travel, residential and additional course costs. All specialist outdoor equipment is provided however you will need to provide your own personal equipment*.

Progression
This course will prepare you for work in the outdoor industry or for a place on one of many exciting university courses which are growing rapidly in popularity.
Length of Study
If you are successful on the Diploma in your first year, then you will have access onto the Extended Diploma which runs over the second year.

This course starts in the 2013 / 2014 academic year.
