The Programme

This course is run at the Academy of Music and Sound in Exeter delivering instrument specific (guitar, bass, drum and vocal) rock and popular music courses in state of the art music studios with experienced teachers and working musicians.

The Programme Content

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above (preferably with English) and an ability to play your first instrument to a reasonable level of competence. You will usually have been playing for over 18 months and be expected to attend an assessment.

Costs

You will need to provide your own instrument (unless you are a drummer). Students are expected to contribute towards the master class enrichment weeks. Equipment such as headphones and amplifiers are provided by the Academy.

Progression

You can progress from the Extended Diploma to Higher Education courses at Petroc Barnstaple or elsewhere, or pursue various career opportunities within the music industry such as performing and recording in a band, working as a session musician or teaching.

Length of Study

Subsidiary Diploma, one year; Extended diploma, two years.

This course starts in the 2013 / 2014 academic year.
