The Programme

This course is designed to develop your skills and knowledge enabling you to work in the industry in your chosen craft. This course covers the following practical areas; plastering, bricklaying, tiling, plumbing, carpentry, storm water systems, roofing, lead flashing, drainage and basic electrics. Eight units including health and safety. All units will be assessed for knowledge by questions and answers on our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) system. Synoptic practical assessments will take place to check that you have reached the strict criteria in practical activities. Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT are included in the programme content.

The Programme Content

The Level 2 Diploma in Maintenance Operations is designed to develop your skills and knowledge enabling you to work in the industry in your chosen craft. This course covers the following practical areas; plastering, bricklaying, tiling, plumbing, carpentry, storm water systems, roofing, lead flashing, drainage and basic electrics.

Entry Requirements

Initial assessment result at Level 1 or GCSE grade C in Maths and English or Level 1 course in Maintenance Operations.

Costs

Students are required to provide their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including boots. There may be a fee for materials which will be discussed at interview.

Progression

On completion of this Diploma, learners may progress to employment (NVQ Diploma Level 2 in Maintenance Operations) or a course at Petroc in one of the specialist areas.

Length of Study

Two years.
