The Programme Content
The units offered on this course will give a broad perspective
on the use of ICT in a working environment. They will take you
beyond the simple use of office type applications that you may have
encountered in secondary school. You will be expected to move away
from thinking about personal usage into vocational applications of
ICT, expanding their understanding of ICT use in business, industry
and other environments. Below is an overview of the subject areas
covered by some of the units available as part of this course.
Communicating in the IT Industry: This short unit will enable
learners to use IT tools to communicate and exchange information
safely, securely and effectively with different audiences.
Working in the IT industry: This short unit will ensure learners
have knowledge of the available job roles involving professional IT
and the characteristics employers demand in the IT industry.
Computer systems: Looks at different types of computers, what they
are for and what ha

Four GCSEs at grade E or above, however you will be expected to have at achieved at least a grade D in both English and Maths.
Costs
This course can be completed without a home computer, but having one would be very useful. You will not be expected to buy any textbooks.

Progression
This qualification provides a good grounding to progress to an advanced vocational course in ICT or as an all round ICT foundation that can be applied in other disciplines. It also prepares you for employment in junior or trainee roles using ICT in office environments.
