The Programme

economics. It provides a contemporary, dynamic course of study
which relates business and economic theories to the business
problems and solutions arising in the real world. The course will
explore current business issues, eg entrepreneurship, business
opportunities, changing trends in markets, macro-economics,
international business and globalisation and government
intervention in markets. For the AS Level you will take exams in
two units - unit one developing new business ideas in January and
unit two business economics in June.
For the A2 Level you will take exams in two units - unit three
international business in January and unit four, the wider economic
environment and business in June.
The Programme Content
Following such a course of study will provide the stimulus for more specialised study of a related discipline eg marketing, economics, human resource management, finance and accountancy and management courses at university. Students who wish to progress directly into full time employment in a commercial capacity of their choice will find that a knowledge and awareness of economic and business issues will be an invaluable asset.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language and Maths, and an interest in current events.
Costs
Students will be required to purchase their own textbooks - one dedicated to each unit of study (approximately £20 per year) and we recommend that you also subscribe to 'Business Review' magazine. The current cost is in the region of £12 for four issues*.
