The Programme

This programme offers students the opportunity to develop a broad range of knowledge and skills across the business spectrum. Suitable for students wishing to enter a career in business or for those keeping their options open, the course provides an insight into a broad range of subjects from marketing to finance and from law to enterprise.
The course is currently assessed through 100% coursework portfolio work including presentations and reports, with one-to-one support throughout. The course is comprised of separate qualifications which will count towards progression to a Level 3 programme, or will provide an excellent addition to a CV. The main BTEC Business qualification consists of a variety of units across the academic year, which cover a range of different subject areas including marketing, finance, law, on line business and business purposes.
In addition to the BTEC qualification, students will undertake an NCFE Enterprise qualification which encourages students to develop their entrepreneurial skills by creating a business plan and harnessing skills which will help them to succeed in future business projects.

The Programme Content

You will study four compulsory units; Business Purposes, Business Organisations, Finance and People in Organisations; in addition to a range of optional units varying from Consumer Rights, On-line Business and Team Working.

The programme builds on the development of a portfolio of 100% coursework that evidences your achievement at Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction* grades, with ongoing one-to-one advice and support throughout the year.

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade E or above. A successfully completed Level 1 qualification will also be considered.

Progression

Learners have the choice of progressing to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business, A Levels or employment in areas such as administration, retail, marketing or finance.
