The Programme
This apprenticeship will prepare you for working within a school, supporting children to fulfil their potential. Throughout the Apprenticeship you will cover a range of topics including: safeguarding; children's development; communication with children, young people and adults; literacy; numeracy; and inclusion. The knowledge and understanding gained will provide you with a comprehensive vision of what this vital role means both in practical terms and academically. The knowledge and experience you gain throughout this course will contribute hugely to your employability, additionally, it may inspire you to progress your training further through a variety of routes.
The Programme Content
There are 15 units to be taken over the whole programme, these units vary in size and methods of assessment and include topics such as Child Development, Safeguarding, Communication and Play & Leisure. You will be assessed through assignments, case studies, witness statements, reflective accounts and practical performance with assessor visits. Opportunities to extend on English, Maths and ICT are also part of the course.
Entry Requirements
Entry onto a Level 2 programme requires 5 GCSEs at grades D-G. Although mature students will be taken on individual merit.

You must also have an employer who is willing to support you through this apprenticeship.

Progression
On completion of this course you can progress in to employment or a higher level teaching assistant course.
DBS Checks
As this course requires you to undertake work placements with children and/or vulnerable adults, a DBS check (formerly CRB check) is required. This will be carried out by Petroc prior to you starting the course in September and costs £53. Please click on the following link for
