Course Description:

This course is a combination of E-learning and instructor led workshop which provides students with the knowledge and skills required to complete the NCSS certification for Installation & commissioning. It is an accelerated course which covers the key areas and seeks to impart confidence to the learner in dealing with Nortel's Communication Server 1000.

The course divides into 5 key areas:

  • Administration & Maintenance
  • Hardware & Software installation
  • System Redundancy
  • Upgrade Paths

Students will spend 70% - 80% of the course working through practical exercises related to each of these areas.

The Bootcamp is specifically aimed at engineers who need to quickly gain practical knowledge and skills related to the CS1K system. It also covers all of the related areas for the Certification exams.

The course is also ideal for those Administering systems giving them a deeper insight to the Nortel architecture.

Students who have already achieved the NCTS Certification or those not seeking to take the qualifying exams may drop the e-learning module from this course of study.

Similarly Students already familiar with Rel 4.5 may wish to attend only the second week of the course.

By the end of the training you will be able to :

  • Describe the CS1000 Rel 5 Architecture
  • Identify the components of the CS1000 and any optional management servers
  • Access Help & Documentation using the NTP's
  • Access the Call Server via the command line (CLI) and the Element Manager to perform admin tasks
  • Install & Configure the CS1000 – Call Server, Signalling Server, Media Gateway and Media Cards
  • Configure sets and features and enable restrictions of usage
  • Describe & Configure IP Trunking
  • Discuss the Redundancy options for the CS1000 and configure Branch Office & Geographic redundancy
  • Identify valid upgrade paths for Rel 4.5 systems and carry out the upgrades
