Managing your environment using the Microsoft System Centre Suite

Prerequisites:

This course is designed for an audience that currently has an understanding of the technical challenges brought with managing enterprise solutions or data centers based upon Microsoft technologies. This will include server at least 2 years with Windows, Active Directory and network infrastructure experience. Knowledge of backup and storage solutions would be very beneficial. Any knowledge of any of the application technologies listed in the course outline would be useful.

Course Description:

Using a series of instructor led hands-on labs, participants will learn how to do Disaster Recovery in the data center, as well as optimize SharePoint, Server and Exchange management using System Center products. During the labs students will successfully configure and use System Center Operations Manager 2007 (OpsMgr), System Center Configuration Manager 2007 (ConfigMgr), System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 (DPM) and System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 (SCVMM), to manage core data center applications such as Microsoft Sharepoint Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2007 running on the Microsoft Hyper-V platform.

The course ends with a Proof of Concept Delivery Exercise to equip technical consultants with the knowledge and tools to deliver successful engagements around the SMSE suite.

On completion delegates will:

• Understand the core concepts and features of the System Center Suite.
• Know how to use the System Center Suite to optimize data center management.
• Know how to manage Windows Server 2008, SharePoint Server 2007, and Exchange Server 2007 running on the Microsoft Hyper-V platform with the System Center Suite.
• Know how to set up monitoring with Operations Manager 2007 and SCVMM, set up Desired Configuration Management (DCM) and patch management by using Configuration Manager, and set up continuous data protection of the environment with Data Protection Manager (DPM).
• Know how to carry out a complete disaster recovery of an Exchange Server 2007 platform and SharePoint Server 2007 using DPM and SCVMM.
