Course Description:
This three-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to implement and administer IIS 6.0. The course focuses on the IIS 6.0 architectural features that improve reliability, security, manageability and performance. The course also provides knowledge and skills to successfully install, configure, implement security, monitor, and manage Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 servers and Web sites.
This course is intended for experienced systems administrators and engineers (at a 200-300 skill level) who have experience in deploying, administering, and supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2003 operating system-based servers and networks
Students can be any one of the following:
- Systems Administrators or IT Generalists who are responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Web and application servers.
- IT Support Professionals in medium-to-large organizations, who are responsible for maintaining servers, including but not limited to Web and application servers on the corporate network. The audience includes IT Support Professionals who perform support functions with the Windows Server 2003 family of operating systems and network services in their day-to-day work.
- System Engineers, who perform tasks associated with the implementation and maintenance of Web and application servers as part of their overall IT responsibility within small-to-medium organizations.
After completing this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the main features of IIS 6.0, the IIS 6.0 security model, the request processing and metabase architectures.
- Plan the implementation of IIS 6.0 based on the administrative and business needs of an organization.
- Install and configure IIS 6.0.
- Implement Web server and Web site security.
- Create additional Web and File Transfer Protocol (FTP) sites.
- Administer the IIS metabase.
- Manage Web sites and applications.
- Monitor IIS 6.0 performance and Security.
