This module is drawn from our suite of Real Estate masters programmes. This module is designed to help you to develop a wide ranging and critical understanding of principles, theories, techniques and practices relating to the valuation and appraisal of real estate interests.

Although focusing on the property context, some of the understanding and skills developed will also have broader application within more general business environments. Studies within the module will encourage you to acquire and apply understanding and skills relevant to contemporary property market practice, as well as recognising possible strengths, limitations and shortcomings. Studies will also encourage you to examine possible improvements and developments to conventional accepted practices.

• principles and techniques of property valuation, which will include detailed examination of valuation methods for a range of bases and purposes including statutory, development and investment
• the purpose and nature of property valuation standards
• principles and techniques of investment performance measurement and analysis, including measurement and analysis of return and risk at the individual asset and portfolio levels.
