Sewing and Pattern Adaptation for Absolute Beginners to Fashion, Short Course Programme

This course will teach the basics of how to sew and will develop skills and confidence across a range of decorative and construction techniques. This will include developing skills using seams, edge finishes, fastenings, shaping and pockets, as well as techniques such as appliqué and patchwork.

The course is however much more than just a standard ‘learn to sew’ course as it will also develop your confidence to be able to adapt commercial patterns to make them more creative and individual. The course will also teach the use of commercial patterns to make a reusable block that can be adapted for a wide range of future projects. There will also be the opportunity to learn how to produce paper patterns for simple products such as bags and home furnishings.

This course is aimed at complete beginners as well as those who are a little more skilled who want to develop the confidence to be a bit more adventurous. It will give you the basic skills and understanding needed to progress onto a higher level course whether it be in fashion, textiles or pattern cutting.
