Life Drawing Saturday School, Short Course Programme

All creative people can benefit from an understanding of the human body and how to represent it through drawing. Whether you are interested in art, design, architecture or performance, the ability to draw from a life model is an essential and exciting skill that can support many other creative activities.

On this course you will begin with black and white materials using pencils and charcoal and, as the course develops, you will begin experimenting with colour and collage. Your practical studio work will involve drawing short and long poses, group critiques and one-to-one guidance, supported by demonstrations and short talks about life drawing and how it has been approached by other artists. Studio activities will be accompanied by optional homework projects so that you can keep drawing between sessions.

By the end of the course you will have developed your observational skills, be confident in your use of materials and be inspired to continue your life drawing activities and develop your own approach outside of the classroom.

This course is ideal for people who are new to drawing or who have studied drawing in the past and are looking for a refresher.
