Interior Design for Beginners, Short Course Programme

You may want to re-design your own home, build a portfolio of design work or maybe you are considering interior design as a future career. This beginners course will offer you an introduction to interior design and could be used as a basis for further studies. It will give you an insight into the world of interior design and inspire you with the confidence to present your own interior design schemes.

During the course you will learn how to develop and use your creativity regarding interiors with special attention given to light, colour, form, texture and how these key elements can define a space. You will also look at decorative schemes with the use of wallpaper, upholstery, window treatments and accessories. This is a practical and creative course with some theory and research and is delivered through informal lectures, talks from artists and professionals working in the industry and visits to local places of design interest.

You will gain experience of undertaking an interior design scheme and also an understanding of its application in the domestic, residential and commercial sectors. You will be introduced to the methods and technique used to complete a project, whether this is for your own home or for a future client. You will gain an understanding of scale through to the application of colour and use of furniture and furnishings from simple plan drawings.

By the end of the course you will have created a finished interior design project, developed an awareness of the vast range of information relevant to interior designers as well as having had plenty of fun.
