This course is an opportunity to engage in a highly focussed process of image-making as currently practised in the game design industry (but applicable to a variety of outcomes). The course is hands-on, taught in a series of practical workshops and critical seminars.

This course is designed for anyone considering a future in game design who have basic drawing skills and are interested in developing professional skills in concept art. You will also investigate the role of concept artist in the game production process whilst developing your 2D visualisation skills.

This course is designed for anyone considering a future in game design who have basic drawing skills and are interested in developing professional skills in concept art. You will also investigate the role of concept artist in the game production process whilst developing your 2D visualisation skills.

Using a combination of hand drawing and digital techniques you will be taken through the process of developing characters and environments in response to a written brief. Over the duration of the course topics covered will include visual research, thumbnailing, perspective, figure construction, character turnarounds and key scenes.

At the end of the course you will have a range of work for your portfolio including development sketches and finished images.
