This course is designed to give students a general understanding of business organisations and their main processes. The course features a range of modules covering the core business functions such as marketing, accounting and finance, human resources within business organisations. You will be required to complete a work based learning project with a local employer in the second year, which will give you an opportunity to apply, in the workplace, the skills and knowledge learnt throughout the course as well as an opportunity for learning in the workplace environment. As a part time student you will study over three Semesters from September until August each year.What qualifications or skills do I require to study this course?
120 or more UCAS points which must be made up of at least one full GCE A level (A2), a BTEC National Diploma/Certificate or equivalent, together with 4 subjects at GCSE at Grade C or above including Maths and English Language or equivalent. Applications will be welcome from those working in relevant employment that may not fully meet the above entry requirements but have a number of year’s relevant experience.What does the course involve?
Modules studied in Year 1 include: - Developing Professional and Employability Skills - Understanding and Promoting a Business - Finance for Business - Managing People - Business Applications - Business Law. Modules studied in Year 2 include: - Work Based Project - Business Environment - Enterprise - E-business - Global business. Specialist option module (Systems, Analysis & Design Sem A; Information Management Sem B)What option will be open to me if I successfully complete the course? Foundation Degree can provide progression to the final year of a degree at the University of Hertfordshire - depending upon final grade. You may also have the option to continue study at NHC on the part time route.
