You will learn about how to care for different types of animals as well as their health and welfare requirements. You will also develop the workplace skills required by employers.

What does the course involve?

You will learn how to:

• Understand the health & welfare requirements of animals

• Know how to safely handle animals

• Recognise breeds / types of animals

• Recognise types of housing & bedding for small animals

• Demonstrate good working relationships

• Study / Research skills

• Preparation for work

• Communication / Numeracy skills

• Work experience / placement

In addition to your animal care qualification you will also work towards the following qualifications:

• 7 Habits of an Effective Teenager

• Functional Skills English and Maths

• Personal and Social Development

What option will be open to me if I successfully complete the course? On completion of this course you could get employment working with animals or progress onto the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care.
