Electrotechnical Technology: City&Guilds 2330 - Part Time Eve

Course Summary:

The Level 3 electrotechnical Technology Certificate at Nescot is available on a part-time day or part-time evening basis. The course combines practical and theory sessions to enable you to gain good practical skills with underpinning knowledge of Electrical Installations at an advanced level. You will work towards achieving 3 units of competence throughout the year which will culminate in an end of Year City & Guilds multiple-choice test and practical assessments.

Application of health and safety and electrical principles: The aim of this unit is to recognise the importance of the candidate’s ability to work safely and efficiently and to understand the electrical principles which allow electrotechnical activities to be carried out. It includes responsibilities, accident reporting and the identification of hazards and risks. It also covers the competencies needed to work efficiently and effectively in the working environment including the efficient use of resources, the creation and maintenance of effective working relationships with colleagues and line management, the setting and review of objectives and targets for personal development and contribution to opportunities for improvement to working practices and procedures.

Installation (Buildings and Structures) Inspection, testing and commissioning: This unit identifies the principles and processes applicable to the inspection, testing and commissioning of electrical installations. The content of this unit covers procedures for inspection, testing to meet the requirements of the installation and the industry codes of practice.

Installation (Buildings and Structures) Fault diagnosis and rectification: This unit identifies the principles and processes applicable to fault diagnosis on systems, equipment and components within an electrical installation. The content of this unit covers safe and approved procedures for fault finding and the reestablishment of operational conditions. You will be given details of course materials, stationery and the health and safety equipment you will require when you enrol on the programme.

Career Progression:

Completion of the level 3 award will allow progression to a level 4 programme eg HNC/Degree.
