The EDI Level 2 (SVQ) in Health & Social Care offered by Education Development International (EDI) has been developed from the National Occupational Standards produced jointly by the standard setting bodies (including Scottish Social Services Council and Skills for Health). The aim of this qualification is to contribute to the skills, knowledge and overall performance of the care industries workforce. It provides a first insight into the principles and processes of the delivery of health and social care to clients and will aid career progression.
This SVQ is about the delivery of health and social care to clients. This includes direct care, where the focus is hands-on care and on the development and maintenance of the client's independence.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
You will be assessed in the workplace by an assessor and upon completion of your portfolio to the awarding body. Observation of work practice is a mandatory requirement.
To receive a full SVQ 2 in Health and Social Care at SCQF Level 6, learners must take a total of six units, including two of the optional units which reflect current work practice

Two Optional Units and;
Mandatory Core (4 Units)
- UNIT 1 Communicate With, and Complete Records for Individuals
- UNIT 2 Support the Health and Safety of Yourself and Individuals
- UNIT 3 Develop Your Knowledge and Practice
- UNIT 4 Ensure Your Own Actions Support the Care, Protection and Well-Being of Individuals
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no formal entry requirements but you must be working in a care environment.
Students will be asked to complete a skill scan prior to application detailing work experience and education achievements.
