If you love to read and write you love this course. It consists of 3 units of study (Literary, Language and Personal Study) and one exam. The Literary Study unit will concentrate on developing your understanding and critical appreciation of a variety of literary texts from the genres of novels, short stories, poetry, drama and mass media. The Language Study unit aims to develop skills of understanding, analysis and evaluation of modern non-fiction prose material. Additionally you will be developing your writing skills across a number of genres. If you love to read and write you love this course. It consists of 3 units of study (Literary, Language and Personal Study) and one exam. The Personal Study unit allows you to choose a text to study in depth and write a critical essay examining closely some aspects of the text. Each of these units is internally assessed.

For the exam you will sit 2 papers. The first will test the skills developed in Language and Literary Study units (understanding, analysis and evaluation); the second will ask you to write 2 critical essays on a choice of texts.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS OR GUIDANCE REQUIRED

Must have either Standard Grade English at Credit or a Pass at Intermediate 2 English
