Description

This course has been designed for students starting their career in mechanical engineering. It offers a classroom-based programme relating to mechanical engineering with exposure to hands-on activities in machining and fabrication. Students learn skills which can be used throughout the engineering industry. To attain the award, students will be required to achieve a minimum of 12 credits based on academic subjects.

All units within this programme are at Higher level.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should have Credit level Standard Grades, Intermediate 2 or National 5 qualifications (including Maths 1,2,3 - the alternative applications unit is unfortunately not acceptable).

The course has been designed for students starting their career in mechanical engineering. It offers increased 'hands-on' skills with a reduced programme of classroom based theory. Students learn skills which can be used throughout the engineering industry. To attain the award, students will be required to achieve a minimum of 12 credits.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

The course is assessed on a continuous basis using a combination of examinations, reports, assignments and some short tests.

PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Successful completion of this course should enable students to gain access to higher education courses in engineering e.g. HND, or enter employment as mechanical engineering trainees.
