Complementary Therapies Diploma VRQ Level 2

The Level 2 Diploma qualification in Complementary Therapy is designed to equip candidates with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for a variety of treatments/services. On completion of the award candidates will be able to display the necessary skills to provide clients with a wide range of complementary therapy treatments.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates would be expected to have achieved at least three good Standard Grade, Intermediate 1 or National 4 qualifications and/or one higher, or have completed the introduction to beauty therapy course but now wishes to pursue a career as a complementary therapist. Candidates who have already studied at this level or can demonstrate relevant work experience will find this advantageous to cope with the level of study. Good communication skills, a willingness to learn new practical skills and working with the general public are essential qualities for working towards attainment of this qualification. Key skills will be developed through the delivery and assessment of this programme.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

Candidates who seek a career in the complementary, health or leisure industries or candidates who are seeking a career or further study at level 2 or candidates who have achieved an award such as SVQ/NVQ Level 1 in Beauty Therapy

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

This course is assessed using a system of continuous assessments which will include online assessment, closed and open book questions; practical observations and portfolio building. You will be assessed by a variety of assessors and will be required to participate in the internal and external verification process as defined by the awarding body, City & Guilds.

PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

On successful completion students may progress to the level 3 diploma in complementary therapy course [subject to approval] seek employment in General Practice, Health Centres/Clinics.
