Gain an insight into the different fields of Art and Design, including Graphic Design, Photography, Product Design, Fine Art, 3D Design, Fashion and Textiles

This course is equivalent to 2 GCSEs. It will suit those who have an interest in Art and Design and have an interest in developing their skills and knowledge in preparation for a level 3 course e.g. Extended Diploma Art and Design - Design Crafts.

What’s involved?
The course is taught over one year with 6.5 hours of tutor contact time each week. Students will be encouraged to make use of the facilities during non-contact time.
During the course you will:
Experience a range of 2D and 3D projects through set design briefs across Design, Craft and Art. This will involve working in the specialist facilities with a range of tutors.
Produce a portfolio of work which demonstrates 2D and 3D creativity.
Learn more about the sector through educational visits to local and national museums, galleries and craft centres.
Entry Requirements:
GCSE grade E/D or above in Art and Design or Design Technology or a portfolio of Art and Design work.
Which courses go well with this?
This course combines well with other Level 2 courses such as Creative Media Production and ICT.
Progression:
This course will provide you with the option to be able to study level 3 Extended Diploma Art and Design - Design Crafts. You will also have the option to progress to A level courses such as Graphics, Photography, Product Design, Fine Art, Fashion and Textiles.
