Tracing Your Family Tree - Beginners (ACLS)
This course consists of the following:
- Ever wondered who your ancestors were?
- Where did they come from?
- What did they do?
Tutor is an experienced genealogist.
The course provides you with the basic skills and knowledge needed to research your own family history through both historic archives and internet resources. You may be a complete beginner or have some experience already.
Each week the course explores a new topic to develop the skills and knowledge needed to trace your ancestors and find out more about their lives.
You will discover where to find and how to use:
- Census records
- Birth, marriage and death certificates
- Parish records of baptism, marriage and burial

Students must be:
- Aged 19 or over as of 31 August 2012
- Studying their first ACLS funded course
- A Nottingham County Council resident
