This course focuses on the exploration of garment shape, fabric manipulation and design interpretation from forecasted trends and designet catwalk collections. Students are encouraged to develop skills that enable you to interpret design & visual information in order to realise pattern & garment solutions, produce professional visual work, and gain experience with the Gerber CAD system.
The course is designed to give you a portfolio of interchangeable academic & practical skills to enable you to meet the ever-changing needs of the industry, particularly in the areas of creative pattern cutting.

skills that enable you to interpret design & visual information
in order to realise pattern & garment solutions, produce
professional visual work, and gain experience with the Gerber CAD
system.
The course is designed to give you a portfolio of interchangeable

ever-changing needs of the industry, particularly in the areas of
creative pattern cutting.
There is an expectation for experimental & innovative design
solutions that go beyond preconceived ideas of style
representation. Strong emphasis will be placed on practical
presentation skills and garment manufacture.
Throughout the two years students will undertake regular live
projects. Visits to seminars, exhibitions, companies and
professional bodies form an integral part of the course.
In recent years the course has seen two gold award winners at
Worldskills, the worlds largest vocational skills competition, 2nd
place in Young Designers competition.

If you choose to study this course on a three-year part-time basis, tutors will arrange the appropriate sequence of delivery for you.
Students must have between 120 and 240 UCAS points from:
- Diploma in Foundation Studies Art & Design
- At least two 'A' Levels at A2, with one in an art & design subject area
- A BTEC Diploma or Extended Diploma in an art and design-related subject area
- Advanced Diploma with relevant Principal or Additional & Specialist Learning (ASL)
- International Baccalaureate
Mature students with relevant experience and/or qualifications, including an Access to HE Diploma within a relevant area, are welcome to apply. You will be invited to attend an interview with a portfolio of your work.
