Level 3 & 4 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector Award (PTLLS) OCR

PTLLS is an introduction to teaching course and on completion of the course students will acquire a threshold licence to teach adults. This is generally suitable for those teaching non-accredited/certified qualifications, or from home. It is a stepping stone to teaching as there are no teaching hours required for this course.

This course consists of the following:

• The role of the teacher
• Teaching & learning approaches
• Lesson planning & lesson evaluation
• Classroom management, motivation, communication & feedback
• Assessment

This award is suitable for those who work or wish to work as:

• Teachers in adult community education
• Teachers/trainers in the voluntary sector
• Training personnel in commerce, industry, the public sector or HM forces

The award is designed to enable students to:

• Adopt an integrative approach to the theory and practice of teaching
• Reflect on their own previous/current levels of experience, practice & skills and areas for development
• Identify principles of learning, teaching, assessment & evaluation
• Develop an awareness of their professional role

All students must be aged 19+ and have the following:

• Level 2 qualification in English – GCSE (A-C) or equivalent. Students must be able to provide evidence of this prior to being offered a place on the course
• An interest in teaching adults
