This course is 2 separate courses and students will study either Site Carpentry OR Bench Joinery.

BENCH JOINERY

- Marking out for routine products
- Set out, make and assemble doors, windows, stairs with turns and other joinery components
SITE CARPENTRY
Additional modules include:-
- Door linings, casings, frames, floors, roofs, trim to roofs, window boards, stud partitions, grounds
- Fixing stairs and balustrades
- Laying floors, laminating
- Constructing and fixing kitchen wall and base units
- Jointing work tops, PUWER (The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations), causes of injury
- Personal hygiene
- Irresponsible behaviour
- Second fixing to new and alteration work
- Hanging exteriors and interior doors, skirting boards, architraves, pipe-boxing and fixing sink units
All students must be employed in the industry, pass an initial assessment activity in literacy and numeracy as part of the interview and have ONE from the following:
- 4 GCSEs (3 at grades A*-D and 1 at grade A*-E) including English and Maths
- Level 1 Diploma in a construction discipline, plus GCSE English and Maths (1 at grade A*-D and 1 at grade A*-E)
- Equivalent qualifications
Adults 19+ who have industry experience but do not have the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.
