Who is this course for? 

This qualification is intended for experienced personnel working in the electrical industry. Although City & Guilds does not state formal candidate entry requirements, the qualification is not intended for non-qualified electricians and/or those who do not have experience in inspecting, testing and certifying electrical installations. The Certificate in design, erection and verification of electrical installations was previously certificated under the qualification 2400 design, erection and verification of electrical installations. It is intended for personnel in electrical contracting companies who have responsibility for the quality of the design, specification, installation, and inspection and testing processes. It addresses, in particular, the implications of the Wiring Regulations for Electrical Installations.

Course description: This course is intended to support those who are involved in designing electrical installations to BS7671:2008. The course is split into three outcomes as follows:

  1. Design
  2. Selection and erection of equipment
  3. Inspection and Testing

It will provide all candidates with the necessary information and knowledge to design and erect an electrical installation, with a focus on the above outcomes taking into account factors such as, cable selection, environmental influences, routing and suitability for purpose etc.

Assessment

Candidates must successfully complete:

2391-302 – 4 hour practical assessment (candidates who have already completed this component for 2391-10 will not need to take this again) 

2391-303 – a 3 hour written examination, consisting of 10 questions 2391-304 – a set project, requiring a minimum of 20 hours work, along most candidates spend a longer time producing the work to the required criteria. 

Materials Required: All candidates will be provided with an extensive training materials written by the awarding bodies lead provider. The course is designed to verify that candidates are fully familiar with the content and application of BS7671:2008 with specific reference to Inspection, Selection of Equipment and Design. All candidates are advised to obtain a copy for reference throughout the course.

All candidates are required to bring along a non-programmable scientific calculator and standard stationary.
