Course Description
This bundle course of Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and Child Care Diploma is designed to introduce the learner to a variety of areas concerned with the controversial subject of FASD and Child Care. This Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders course has been created in conjunction with experts - FASawareUK.
Many clinicians, teachers and most families, have limited clinical expertise in this extremely un-publicised syndrome. The course will therefore be beneficial to professionals and families alike and will help them to gain an increased understanding of the issues and the possible responses and interventions.
The course covers the clinical issues involved with alcohol use during pregnancy, together with the clinical symptoms and developmental outcomes. It then looks at the neuropathology of Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), including psychopathy and cognitive functioning. Finally, it will examine interventions, including prevention and rehabilitation approaches.
The course aims to:
- Provide a nationally accredited certificated programme covering a wide range of issues associated with alcohol use during pregnancy and the variety of clinical symptoms and developmental outcomes and possible interventions
- Provide a flexible learning opportunity that is accessible to a wide range of learners
- Provide the student with knowledge and understanding that can be applied by those who either personally, voluntary or professionally have a special interest in this field.
Specific objectives of the programme are listed as Learning Outcomes at the start of each of the six Modules of the Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders programme. These Learning Outcomes cover areas that relate to:

- Taking Responsibility for the Unborn Child and diagnosing
