Description

This certificate is a prestigious and professional qualification covering most aspects of horticulture. Successful achievement is through external examination. 

This is an extensive in-depth course of study which focuses on the theory of horticulture and how to grow and care for the plants in your garden, including identification of plant names and families. 

The course fee includes 6 Saturday mornings (dates to be agreed with the tutor).  A deposit of £27 is included towards the examination fee, the balance of £72.00 will be collected when you are entered for the exam.

Learners must be prepared to undertake independent study outside of the course.

This is an academic course of study requiring a good standard of written English and existing study skills.

General & First Session:

Pen, paper, folder.

Course Aim & Objective:

This course follows a set RHS syllabus which covers

  • Plant Botany
  • Plant nutrition
  • Plant nomenclature
  • Soils and cultivation
  • Pruning.

Assessment:

Formal summative assessment through external examination.

Tutor Visual, verbal. Homework and projects set throughout the year

Progression:

Progression on to longer introductory courses such as the C & G complete gardener course and RHC General Gardening Certificate.
