Course Aim & Objective:
Broaden your awareness and potential of drawing and painting techniques through experimentation in order to explore and increase your drawing and painting skills. Have the confidence and knowledge to use ideas and materials in a highly creative manner. The first 3 weeks consist of drawing experiments followed by the introduction of creative painting processes. Although there is a basic structure to the course, it evolves from week to week in response to what you and the group are exploring and achieving.
Assessment:
To have sketchbook/note books for ongoing studies and seek reference material when appropriate. Work is assessed continually on a one-to-one basis and through group discussion.
Progression:
This will be within the class or sideways to other KAE art courses.
On this course you will gain the following skills and knowledge:
- Increase your awareness of the potential of different methods, tools and materials, from the simple beginnings of the humble pencil to glorious use of full colour
- Improve your visual awareness and skills by the opportunity for exploration and discovery
- Develop your use of charcoal, pastels, inks and a variety of mark-making tools
- Develop water based painting techniques, preferably using acrylics but also watercolour and other materials
- Become more confident in order to be experimental and creative in your approach and to develop your own style of working
