This introductory course is a taster course for people interested in finding out more about counselling without the commitment of undertaking a qualification course. It demonstrates, through practical study and group work, how counselling knowldege, theory and technique can enhance everyday life and provides a firm grounding for further study.

Learner & Entry Requirement:

No experience necessary.

Course Aim & Objective:

To provide a definition of counselling and an understanding of the differences between counselling and other inter-personal interactions.

To provide an introduction to skills in counselling, listening and attending skills and the opportunity to practice basic counselling skills.

Assessment:

Continuous through observation, discussions, Question & Answer sessions and feedback.

Progression:

Local provision of qualification courses is provided at the end of the course. Those wishing to progress are directed to Kingston College accredited courses.
