Clait Diploma has now been replaced by ITQ Certificate in IT User Skills, but the course content remains almost the same.
Study Clait Level 1 and gain a recognised ITQ qualification. The course is suitable for those with a little previous experience or those continuing from a beginner's course. You will develop your IT skills covering topics such as Word Processing Excel spreadsheets PowerPoint presentations and electronic communication.
Accreditation costs are included in the course fee. Learners entitled to concession only have to pay the accreditation fee of £99.

General & First Session:
Please bring a pen, paper and a folder to keep handouts and exercises. KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the course is subsequently closed.
Course Aim & Objective:
Enable you to:
- Operate standard IT hardware and software equipment correctly and safely
- Use a range of different software applications including Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and PowerPoint
- Manage, store and retrieve data and documents in a variety of applications.
- Use the internet to communicate via email and to search for information
Assessment: Work through a series of practice exercises and when able to, take a mock paper followed by an OCR-set assessment. Assessments are taken in "office-like" conditions during normal class times.
No formal homework is set, but you will benefit if you practice between classes.
Progression:
This course provides an excellent preparation for the European Computer Driving licence (ECDL) courses.. Please ask at the centre office for details.
Course Syllabus:
Word Processing & File Management
- identify and use a computer workstation and appropriate system software
- use a computer's system software to create and manage files and folders
- identify and use Word Processing software to enter text, numbers and symbols
- format basic paragraph and document properties
Spreadsheets using Excel
- identify, input and amend data in Spreadsheet software accurately
- insert and replicate formulae in Spreadsheets
- produce pie charts, line graphs and bar/column charts from given data
- use common formatting and alignment techniques in spreadsheets and graphs/charts
- save and print Spreadsheets and graphs/charts
Creating a Presentation in PowerPoint
- set up a presentation accurately
- input and format data in presentation software
- import/insert images and graphics correctly
- save and print the presentation
Using the Internet & Email
- Identify and use web browsers and email software
- Navigate the world wide web and use search techniques to locate data on the web
- Transmit and receive email messages and attachments
