Description
This course is designed to provide a basic introduction to creating a Web site. Topics include using HTML, inserting text and images, hyperlinks, creating navigation menus, using Tables, creating forms, and inserting prepared scripts such as Counters or Banner Ads.
Learner & Entry Requirements:
No specific prior knowledge is assumed, but it is expected that users have a good working knowledge of Windows and File Management and be familiar with using applications such as Microsoft Office or FrontPage.

stick or floppy disk may be useful to store work. KAE is unable to
offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the course
is subsequently closed.
Course Aim & Objective:
To introduce learners to the basics of creating a web site. To give
learners an understanding of HTML and its syntax. To enable
learners to create a basic, static web site. To help learners
develop confidence in using an HTML editor.
By the end of the course learners should be able to:
- Create a basic HTML page using text and images.
- Use tables to layout their pages.
- Create a Navigation Menu.
- Create web-based forms.
- Insert prepared scripts for additional features.
Assessment:
Practical observation, Question and Answer sessions/targeted
questioning, completion of exercises, individual support.
Assessment at end of course.
Progression:
Dreamweaver Beginners or Intermediate courses. Please ask the
centre office for details.
Course Syllabus:WEEK 1: Introduction to HTML, including
basic syntax. Creating a basic HTML page. Formatting text.Creating
hyperlinks. Understanding link targets.
WEEK 2: Using images and formats. Accessibility issues. Creating
Navigation menus.
WEEK 3: Using tables to lay out pages. Formatting tables. Using
table-based menus.
WEEK 4: Web forms and how they work. Creating web-based forms. Form
elements. Namingprocedures for form elements. Form-to-e-mail.
WEEK 5: Inserting prepared scripts to increase functionality,
including scripts such as Counters, date/time,or Banner Ad
displays. Final assessment (practical).
