Description

Covers the legislation relating to tree climbing and the use of a chainsaw from a rope and harness. The course is designed for arboriculturists who need this NPTC qualification to legally carry out tree work using a chainsaw.

Please note: Assessment will take place on a separate day to be aranged between the candidate and the appointed NPTC assessor.

  • Use of step and sink cuts
  • Safety in use of top−handled and rear−handled chainsaws, including transferral of equipment into tree

Entry Requirements

CS30 - Chainsaw Maintenance

CS31 - Fell Small Trees

CS 38 - Climb Tree and Perform Arial Rescue

Students must be aged 16 or over on 1st September of the year in which the course starts. Tetanus protection is recommended

What Next?

  • Unit 40 − Carry out pruning operations within the tree.
  • Unit 41 − Carry out dismantling operations, sectional felling and use of climbing irons.
