Course Content

The Level 3 Diploma in Work-based Environmental Conservation is suited to those who are taking more responsibility within their work role in environmental conservation. The underpinning knowledge for the units is taught at College and full guidance about the evidence required by the units will be given.

There are 5 mandatory units:

  • Environmental good practise
  • Working with groups
  • Organising projects
  • Health, safety and security
  • Developing own performance

A further 4 units can be chosen from a selection including:

  • Field surveys
  • Interpretive media and education
  • Management of habitats
  • Efficient use of resources
  • Land use improvement

Entry Requirements

Supervisory role at work or in a voluntary organisation.

What Next?

Employment as a Countryside ranger/warden, work on a country estate, work with environmental or wildlife charities, countryside/conservation officer, forest worker, parks officer, dry stone walling, landscaper, rights of way officer.

Full-time countryside management courses at KMC.
