The aim of Telecommunications Research is to provide a deep understanding of techniques, mechanisms and network design and operation of current, emerging and future IP-based mobile broadband networks. Emphasis is given to both theoretical and practical aspects of broadband networks. This includes network analyses, design methods, implementations and experiments.

PURPOSEThe aim of this programme is to provide students with theoretical and advanced simulation skills necessary to pursue careers in the research and development sectors in the mobile industry area. The programme concerns with the design and implementation of innovative technologies to boost the performance of mobile and wireless network infrastructures.

DESCRIPTION

  • The programme provides students with in-depth understanding of key technologies in the area of wireless communication technologies as pertain to the task of wireless transmission.
  • The key strength of the programme is its close links with the state-of-the-art research environment at the Centre for Telecommunications Research that provide a rich intellectual environment for students to achieve their goals and gain strong employment prospects.
In addition to the individual project, and the writing of a research thesis, students are required to complete two taught modules in order to be eligible for the award of the MSc degree.
