PURPOSEFor those seeking to develop their intellectual and
practical skills to engage in both academic debates and the
practical construction of environmental policy and politics at
national and international scales.
DESCRIPTIONThis programme provides in-depth knowledge and a
critical awareness of the politics and geographies shaping
environments, through an exploration of the issues and debates
surrounding the construction of environmental policy at national
and international scales. Local case studies are supplemented by
broader level analyses of global environmental issues, policies and
politics. A unique combination of theoretical and policy-relevant
modules draw on the environmental expertise of the staff and
internships with participating environmental organisations.
This programme comprises a core dissertation and two compulsory
modules: Globalisation & the Environment and Practising Social
Research I, plus 60 credits from a range of options available on
topics covering the culture politics of nature, consumers and the
environment, disasters and development, environmental actors as
well as the opportunity of completing an internship.
Please note that not all modules run in any given year and you
should not choose this programme on the expectation that an
optional module will be running.
