DESCRIPTIONThis programme aims to build on practitioners'
neuroscience practice experience and equip practitioners engaged in
advanced neuroscience practice with the critical thinking skills to
evaluate issues related to neuroscience services, policy and
clinical practice. The programme provides opportunities for
students to acquire the requisite knowledge and expertise to meet
the challenges encountered and opportunities presented by
ever-expanding role responsibilities in practice within a
neuroscience care setting. The programme also provides
opportunities for students to develop a critical understanding of
the theoretical and evidence-based underpinnings of specialist
practice, health policy, health economics and ethical and legal
challenges facing practitioners functioning at an advanced level
within a neuroscience care arena. It also allows students to
develop skills of critical reflection, and understand the political
context of healthcare and how it influences practice.
It is a suitable programme for practitioners from a wide variety of
neuroscience care areas, for example: neurological and
neurosurgical units; intensive care units; stroke units; spinal
injuries units; neurological rehabilitation departments; primary
long-term care settings for people with neurological problems.
