What is the Course About?Validate and awarded by the University of Chester, the Degree in
Computer Science is delivered entirely on the Island.
Today, there are very few professions that do not rely on the use
of computers for information processing and problem solving. A
degree in Computer Science is an excellent foundation for a wide
range of careers in business, science and the creative
industries.
Studying Computer Science goes beyond simply learning practical IT
skills, to understanding and finding solutions to many of the new
challenges facing today's computer-dominated world.

challenges facing today's computer-dominated world.
What Subjects will I study?
Level 4 - Full-time Year 1
A firm foundation in computing is provided with a range of core
topics such as Computer Systems, Networking, Web-Based Technologies
and Information Analysis. Supporting topics such as Multimedia
Authoring and Programming help broaden the base of this exciting
programme of study.
Level 5 - Full-time Year 2
The core themes are continued and supplemented by Database
Principles and Practice, Systems Development, and Networks. There
is also a six-week period of work placement in an IT based
environment.
Level 6 - Full-time Year 3
Core themes are continued with topics that include Managing a
Web-Based Environment, Advanced Systems Analysis, Advanced
Programming and Network Infrastructure and Management. There is
also a dissertation: a major individual development or research
project.
The Part-Time delivery usually requires students to study three
modules per year over six years. This can be managed to suit the
needs, experience and education of the student and adapted as
