What is the Course About?

This evening class will help you to gain the relevant skills and knowledge to obtain the V.T.C.T. Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Massage. This qualification will develop your practical skills in providing the relaxing and stress relieving treatment of body massage to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to provide your own services for clients. Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety, and client care and communication.

The V.T.C.T. Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology is obtained through independent study and completing the relevant online papers to provide you with knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the systems of the human body. This knowledge allows identification of key factors of a healthy body while the pathologies are included in order to identify conditions which may restrict or contra-indicate treatments, and to assist in planning the most appropriate treatment. Email and in-person tutor support will be available.

Course fees include tuition, tutorial support, assessment and registration. Additional fees maybe required for salon uniform, relevant products and equipment. Full details will be available during the induction evening.

Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Massage = 16
Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology = 42


The length of the course is 15 weeks - 1 x3hr lesson per week.

What Subjects will I study?

The Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Massage consists of 3 units;

Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon.
Through this unit you will develop your skills in a supervisory role focusing on health and safety within the salon enabling you to recognise salon hazards, carry out risk assessments and then implement the necessary actions.

Client care and communication in beauty-related industries.
This unit is about client care and communication in beauty-related industries where you will develop the ability to adapt the provision of client care and communication skills, to the needs of different clients, as well as learn how to manage client expectations.

Provide body massage.
This unit is about the skills involved in providing body massage treatments where you will learn about the classical Swedish massage movements and will be required to adapt massage techniques to suit individual client needs while incorporating health, safety, hygiene and client care.


The Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology consists of two units;

Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therarpies.
This unit will develop your knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology and common pathologies and is a requirement for the Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Massage,

Knowledge of less common pathology for complementary therapies.
This unit will develop your knowledge and understanding of less common pathologies in order to practice complementary therapies and is a requirement for the Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Massage.
