Masters Level Module
The module aims to prepare people to work in or support nurture
groups through examination of the historical and theoretical
background that underpins the nurture group approach. It is
designed to enable participants to develop a critical understanding
of the nurture group concept in relation to current thinking about
how children learn and so apply their growing understanding of how
children learn to their work in nurture groups. Participants will
explore effective models of classroom organisation and management,
identification and assessment of pupils, record keeping and the
curriculum and consider the wider context of the nurturing school
and early intervention in relation to nurture groups. It is
designed primarily for those working in Nurture Groups - teachers
and teaching assistants and it is hoped that both will attend the
training together. However, participants often include Head
teachers, local authority advisers and educational psychologists as
well as teachers and teaching assistants who do not work in Nurture
Groups but are interested in early intervention.
