the management of financial resources, rather than purely technical
issues, and to examine how these activities may be integrated into
institutional strategy. Participants will develop a critical
understanding of the professional and theoretical issues involved
in financial management in higher education, an understanding of
how financial management is related to issues of strategic
management in higher education institutions, and an ability to
apply this knowledge in professional situations and to present
cogent analyses based upon it. Topics to be covered include audit
and corporate governance, resource allocation models, and managing
devolved financial systems. Both parts of this module must be taken
to fulfil the requirements of the MBA degree.
